💵 Tipping
In Tahiti and Mo'orea, tipping is not part of the local culture. You are never expected to tip at restaurants, hotels, or for tours. A warm thank-you goes a long way — no need to leave extra cash.
🪙 Cash
A majority of local shops, markets, and small vendors in Tahiti and Mo'orea are cash only. Stock up on XPF (French Pacific franc) at the airport ATM before leaving Papeete. Larger hotels and restaurants may accept cards.
🦟 Bugs
Mosquitos are present on the island, especially in lush, tropical areas. Make sure to pack a good bug spray — it's especially important for the ATV tour on Sunday where you'll be riding through valleys and jungle terrain.
🍷 Alcohol
Alcohol is significantly more expensive on the island. It's highly recommended to purchase wine, spirits, or beer at the duty free shop in LAX before your flight to save considerably on costs.

You are about to witness something rare and deeply meaningful. A Polynesian wedding ceremony is not simply a celebration — it is a sacred rite rooted in over a thousand years of Pacific tradition. As the Sison family, your presence on this island makes this moment complete.
✨ Why This Ceremony is So Special
In ancient Polynesia, marriage was a spiritual and communal event — a union blessed by ancestors, witnessed by loved ones, and woven into the fabric of the natural world. The marae (the sacred open-air temple), the beating of the pahu drums, the call of the conch shell, the canoe arriving on the lagoon — every element of what you will see today carries generations of meaning. Jamison and Monique have chosen to honor this living tradition in full. This is not a performance. It is a real ceremony, on a real sacred ground, with a real Polynesian priest — and you are a part of it.
What You'll See · Phase 1
Private Transportation for Jamison & Monique
The couple is brought privately to the village to begin the day. This is their first step into the ceremony — everything from this point forward is intentional and sacred.
Traditional Welcome Songs at the Village Entrance
As Jamison and Monique enter the village, local musicians greet them with traditional Polynesian welcoming songs. The melodies are ancient and warm — the kind of sound that stays with you long after the day is over.
Flower Leis, Crowns & Welcome Cocktail
The couple is adorned with handwoven flower leis and head crowns — a Polynesian gesture of honor and welcome. Guests are also welcomed with a traditional punch or cocktail at the village entrance. Take a moment to breathe it all in.
Behind the Scenes — The Couple Prepares
While the family settles in and enjoys the village, Jamison and Monique spend time with the ceremony team getting prepared for everything ahead.
What You'll See · Phase 2
The Canoe Procession — The Moment the Ceremony Begins
Watch for this — it will take your breath away. Jamison and Monique glide across the lagoon on a double canoe decorated with tropical flowers and coconut palms. The air fills with the deep thunder of pahu (drums) and the haunting cry of the pu (conch shell). This is the moment the ceremony truly and fully begins. Find a good spot to watch and have your cameras ready.
The Heart of the Day · Phase 3
Procession to the Marae
The couple is led to the Polynesian temple — the marae. This is an open-air sacred stone platform that has overlooked this lagoon for centuries. It is where Polynesians have honored their gods, their ancestors, and the great turning points of life. Standing here as a family is a privilege not many get to experience.
Welcomed by the Priest
A Polynesian priest greets the couple and the gathered family with ukulele, guitar and traditional chants. A translator is present throughout so that every word — every prayer and blessing — can be understood and truly felt by everyone present.
The Wedding Vows
The full ceremony is conducted by the Tiki Village group — a priest, a translator, and the Tiki Village band and dancers. This is the moment. Jamison and Monique say their vows and become husband and wife under the open sky of Mo'orea, surrounded by the people who matter most.
Wrapped Together in the Tifaifai
In one of the most moving moments of the ceremony, the couple is wrapped together in a tifaifai — a traditional Polynesian patchwork cloth. In Polynesian culture, this symbolizes the joining of two lives into one. It is as beautiful to watch as it sounds.
A Handcrafted Wedding Certificate
The priest presents the couple with a tapa — a traditional bark-cloth document that serves as their Polynesian wedding certificate. It is made by hand, one of a kind, and will be something Jamison and Monique keep for the rest of their lives.
The Royal Procession — Your Moment to Celebrate Them
As the newly married couple, Jamison and Monique are lifted onto a royal double chair — decorated with tropical flowers and coconut palms — and carried by four warriors through the village. This is your cue as their family: cheer, clap, cry happy tears. This is the moment they have been waiting for their entire lives.
Champagne Toast
A bottle of Champagne is opened to mark the union. Raise a glass with the newlyweds and the whole family — you've just witnessed something extraordinary.
The Celebration · Phase 4
Live Show — Musicians, Singers & Dancers
The full Tiki Village ensemble takes the stage to celebrate the couple with a live Polynesian show. Expect drumming, powerful vocals and movement that feels both ancient and alive. This is culture in its purest form.
The Fire Dance
One of the most visceral traditions in all of Polynesia. A fire dance is performed privately in honor of Jamison and Monique. The drums intensify, the flames spin, and the crowd goes quiet. You will feel this one in your chest.
A Private Canoe Cruise for the Newlyweds
As the evening settles, Jamison and Monique take a private cruise on the lagoon — just the two of them — serenaded by ukulele, guitar and traditional Polynesian love songs. A quiet, intimate exhale after an unforgettable day.
The Tahitian Feast & Grand Dance Show — All Family Welcome
The evening closes with a grand invitation: the full Tahitian dance show and traditional feast. As the Sison family, this celebration is for you too. Eat, dance, stay up late, and soak in every last moment of this once-in-a-lifetime evening on the island of Mo'orea.
